MAINTENANCE TIPS FOR YOUR TRIUIMPH

At Carl Rosner, we want to ensure all riders are safe and that our customers have an enjoyable riding experience throughout the ownership of their motorcycle. We have therefore supplied a few basic maintenance tips to keep you safe and ensure your Triumph remains in perfect condition and working order:

Keep a motorcycle tyre gauge in your bike tool bag. Remember to check your tyre pressure regularly and ensure they’re inflated to the pressures specified in your Owner’s Manual

Regularly check to ensure there is sufficient tread in line with the legal limits

Over the passage of time, brake fluid absorbs moisture which impairs the braking performance of the bike. Ensure you replace brake fluid in line with the intervals specified in your Owner’s Manual

Keep your chain lubricated regularly on both sides and where the chain comes into contact with sprockets. Lubricate whilst the chain is warm as this enables the oil to penetrate better within the linkages. Wait about 15 minutes before wiping off excess oil

Check that there is an appropriate ‘sag’ in the chain to support the action of the bike’s suspension as it moves up and down. A chain should never be taut

Check the fuel filter to ensure it’s clean and clear of any clogging. Replace if required, otherwise replace in line with the intervals specified in your Owner’s Manual

Check fuel lines for any cracking or weather damage. If there are any defects, replace immediately

Ensure you make regular oil checks, keeping your oil level at but not exceeding its ‘Max’. Perform the check whilst your motorcycle is on a level surface and when the engine is cold. Running a bike with insufficient oil can seriously damage your engine, whilst over-filling can flood your air filter with oil

Always use the type and grade of oil as specified in your Owner’s Manual

Change the oil filter in line with the intervals specified in the Owner’s Manual

Check fluid levels in each chamber. If any chamber is low, gently top up using only distilled or deionised water. Never use tap water since it contains minerals which could damage the battery

Check cables and clamps for loose connections
